Dori, I remember how Rick and yourself used to come to pick me up and go to church. He was so faithful to the Lord. I can see how he was lifting up his hands and worship the Lord. He knew how to apply his faith in real life. Do you remember that girl who did not have a place to stay and you two offered to stay in your home? When I needed help, he always had been there. Dori, be strong and think how much God had loved him to take him away. Rick wants you to be happy, to go on with your life, to bring light in other peoples' lives, he will smile because he will see you doing God's work and that's the most important thing and keep in mind that there will come a day when you will see him again. God bless you all and again, be strong and let the Holy Spirit to lead your life to show you the way of a new journey in life.

Cuando queremos definir lo que significa ser un hombre, en la mejor extensión de la palabra, como ser humano y como criatura de Dios, pensamos en las cualidades que éste debería tener para conseguir esa categoría. Empezaríamos diciendo que debe ser bueno, noble, honrado, responsable, digno de confianza, trabajador, fiel, cariñoso, respetuoso, en una palabra, que sea auténtico. En el terreno espiritual, pediríamos que tuviera una fé inquebrantable, un amor a Dios por encima de todas las cosas, una vida recta, amor y respeto hacia sus semejantes.

Pues bien, se puede decir que Rick reunía todas esas cualidades. Para mí, la que más destacaba era la espiritualidad. En él encontraba a un ser completamente inmerso en el amor a Dios, y eso trascendía en todos sus actos. La definición que yo le daría es: era un hombre de Dios. Creo que eso es para enorgullecer a cualquier ser humano. Su pérdida es una pérdida irreparable. Nos ha dejado vacíos y tristes por su ausencia de entre nosotros. Todos los que le hemos querido y le seguimos queriendo le echamos mucho de menos, pero tenemos un gran consuelo: Estoy segura y lo digo con el corazón en la mano, que tiene el premio que se ha merecido por su vida de entrega a sus semejantes y amor a Dios, que es el poder compartir la vida eterna con Él. Hasta la eternidad, querido Rick. Te queremos.

Dori and Rick, encouraged me once, when I stayed at the States fifteen years ago, and they still encourage me now, coming to Spain to start a new life. There, at the States, we made a trip to Chicago, and Rick found a walet with about 300$, he just said: "How happy will be the owner when I return him the wallet" My parents and I, still remember that. While Dad was alive I never really viewed him as a person. I always viewed him as ‘Dad’, in his role and in his relationship to me. It was not until now that I am older, now that he is not here anymore that I see him like I could see myself or anyone, as a child inside with his desires, interests, failures and triumphs – everything that made him a human being. I wish that when I was growing up I could have understood him as I do now, I could have handled many things differently. Even though he raised me I feel as if I could have know him much better and we could have spent more time together. One thing I value the most is that he always apologized after quarrels and said that he loved me. Well I love you too Dad and I miss you.

Mrs. Kelsey: I am a friend of Miguel's in Washington. Although I have never met you or Rick I felt very moved by your beautiful tribute to him. Your description of him was as I believe God wants us to live our lives: with simplicity, humility and devotion and fervor in everything we do. You and your family will always be in my prayers. Solo quiero añadir algo a esta memoria dedicada a mi querido cuñado Rick, al que ahora todos podemos conocer un poco mejor: espiritualidad, moral, dedicación a su familia y a su trabajo, su espíritu solidario... Yo quiero mencionar algo que ha quedado sellado en mi memoria: su sonrisa. Fue unos días antes de su muerte. Solo le dije cuánto me había gustado cierto rinconcito del jardín que tan primorosamene había construido, casi insignificante comparado con todo el resto del trabajo realizado en él. Me miró y me dedicó la sonrisa más bonita que vi jamás en su cara. Fue una mezcla de orgullo y agradecimiento, fue un gesto de complicidad, fue un instante de comunicación más allá de las palabras. Yo quiero resaltar la ternura que había oculta detrás de su gesto severo. Nunca te olvidaré Rick. Te quiero.
